The  Rotary Club of Brisbane Centenary recently made a significant donation to the Welsey Choices Program.

The Wesley Hospital Choices Cancer Support Centre, located in the historic Drysllwyn House in Auchenflower, Brisbane, offers a calm, caring and safe place for people with all types of cancers.

At Choices, any individual affected by cancer receives appropriate support and information to meet their physical, practical and emotional needs following a diagnosis of cancer. This unique, free community service for women and men is backed by surgical, oncological and allied health services provided by The Wesley Hospital in Brisbane.

Club President Graham Osterfield said,

“This year the club raised an impressive $7000 to go towards supporting those diagnosed and battling cancer. We have partnered with the Wesley Choices Program now for a number of years now. Cancer affects so many families and we know it’s important to contribute towards the battle to defeat it. “

The money raised for the Choices Program came through the 2016 Rotary Club of Brisbane Centenary Fun Run. Held each May, the Fun Run is South West Brisbanes largest charity fun run.

cancerAfter many years of growing numbers of runners, the club moved to a new course this year to accommodate the larger group in the Rocks River Park, Seventeen Mile Rocks. The new course, set beside the river allows runners of all levels to compete, along with dog walkers, parents with prams and importantly kids.

Work is already under way for the 2017 event which will be held on May 21st, with some sponsors already on board and the club seeking more.
